Today I reflected on the week that just passed. A feeling of stagnation overcame my thoughts as I tried to review progress from that time period.
I caught my thoughts before they escalated into distraught feelings of slight discouragement.
What I realized was the many small achievements that took place during that time, which “I was in control of.”
The lesson I learned was that consistent small achievements create opportunities and enthusiasm for continual progress to larger ones. They are needed in order to proceed.
Don’t let them go unnoticed.
It is an important way to visualize constant progress you are making everyday towards goals and becoming the person you envision and the life you want to have.
For example: Look at your goals or dreams you want to accomplish and the small tasks/skills involved in order to achieve them. Are you doing the small tasks or skills daily/weekly or learning how to? These are essential as you progress towards accomplishing your goals and dreams.
That is an achievement.
Even the smallest thing such as encountering a challenge during the day and solving the issue is something to be proud of and feel great about. No matter what your personal success status may be. Maybe you were beginning to get discouraged as the week progressed but you decided to change your frame of mind, altering your opportunities and thus evolving into a higher state of enthusiasm and positvity moving forward. There are many examples of small things that can be celebrated which will contribute to something larger you envision and work towards achieving.
Some examples of small accomplishments to celebrate may include:
- Overcoming a fear
- Helping someone
- Maintaining your integrity during difficult situations
- Exercising and eating healthy
- Committing to change
- Living within your values
- Taking accountability during your life
I have learned my thoughts are what excels my actions into success. Just as your thoughts change what you do, who you are and who you become. Therefore, always having the thoughts of success (how I define what that is), even small successes means it is inevitable I will keep moving forward towards the thoughts I envision.
A small accomplishment is a smaller piece of a large victory- Kristin Larsen
