When I think about how I would want my life eulogy to be described about me, I don’t view it as a morbid and depressing exercise.
I visualize it as an inspiring opportunity to continue or begin changing my course of action in life and start living how I envision my life to be lived.
- What traits and qualities do I want to possess and represent daily?
- What would I want people, society, family and friends to say about Who I Am?
- How do I want to contribute to the world?
How I convey myself in life – how others see me live
I hold many traits and personal qualities in high regard as a reflection of who I am. They dictate how I would like to interact in life and to be honest with myself.
- Treating others with respect- listening, respecting their opinions, point of view.
- Acting with kindness- Giving more to others than I receive.
- Helping- Being available to help others in times of need and assistance. Taking initiative to “ask” if someone needs help as I realize it is sometimes difficult to ask.
- Living life to best of my ability- Taking control of life and dictating where I want it to take me. Being cognizant of what I want to contribute to in life.
- Striving to be better- Not settling for average or acceptable. Being the best person I can be.
- Smiling- Welcoming a positive outlook on life, passing it onto others who may be in need of a positive uplift, carrying gratitude with me at all times
- Listened- listened to others with open and non judging ears, genuinely absorbed an interest in who they are
- Brought laughter or a smile to others- Giving an ounce of enjoyment and connection to others who would appreciate an injection of colour into hazy grey dullness of a day.
- Accepted others for who they are- Believing in others for the person they are, want to be. Seeing the good in each person and accepting their flaws just as others choose to accept mine.
- Share in the happiness of others- celebrate and acknowledge it with them. Help them “realize” the happiness.
- Be grateful- Give thanks each day and be grateful for what we have been blessed with in life.

These two posts have been really nice. While it may be a common enough thought exercise or philosophical question for people, I know very few who have gone through it in this depth, myself included.
It might well be time for a bit of introspection to see if I am, or how I can, more effectively live the kind of life that brings meaning.
Thank you
Pete 🙂

Pete, thanks for your insight and comments. They are very much appreciated. The task of thinking about a eulogy I must admit seemed very dark but for myself, became inspiring and a point of reference to see how close/far I am to living how I envision….which is closest to my true self.

If this were a mandatory exercise, the world would be a much better place.
