It is now officially December 1, 2015. My journey of self discovery and personal achievement officially began on October 22, 2015. I do not mean to discount where I have guided myself thus far in life and the things I have learned about myself and life lessons.
My mindset has changed however. I have made the effort to eliminate my self limiting beliefs, determine the person I envision to be in life, discuss with family the happiness they would like to experience, and intertwine those experiences with what I envision obtaining and accomplishing in the short term and long term.
The journey is still in progress but with each new day of self discovery my confidence grows, my enthusiasm heightens and “the spark” burns stronger inside.
Ensuring that I am constantly reflecting on my vision ensures motivated progress. I find it easier to push myself for action.
Difficulties to date:
Although I have many goals, I have found it difficult to narrow the scope and focus of my immediate goals. My mind wants to accomplish many goals at once. I take a step back and realize it is a progression of steps that need to occur. Planning is crucial for progression. As I have discussed in earlier posts, setting a deadline and timeline with a map of steps involved for accomplishment is something that I need to improve in order to do my due diligence to ensure I am on the path and anticipated time frame of achievements. Constant referral and not casual reference.
Current status:
On October 22, 2015 I enrolled in an online course called Live Off Your Passion developed by Scott Dinsmore. It helps guide you towards finding what your passions are by discovering, incorporating, implementing your life values and strengths and then helping you create a road to your life purpose. There have been many knowledge provoking exercises provided in order to prepare myself for this journey.
I am not as deep into the course as I would like at this point in time but I know I am taking the appropriate steps to continue and progress in my journey.
I have separated my life goal categories into the following:
- family (proper guidance for our kids, maintaining our family values)
- marriage (building)
- personal development (continued learning, goals, growth opportunities)
- career (developing essential skills, building my strengths/utilizing them)
- financial (future planning, investing, financial IQ)
- health (exercise, nutrition)
- faith (learning more, understanding)
I have kept these broad goal categories in mind and when opportunities for growth arise in each one which correspond with my visions of accomplishment, I am ready for the moment of opportunity. If I didn’t have an idea of what things I would like to improve or look for growth in, I would most likely allow the opportunity to drift by without hesitation.
Although my main focus at the moment is navigating through the Live Your Passion course in order to discover my passions and life purpose, other categories are developing in the meantime as I am aware of what I would like to develop.
Developing the skill of speed reading is the other short term goal priority. I feel this will greatly benefit future progression.
Planning will continue as I look to next year, where I would like to be in regards to personal development and goals. Incremental year planning in regards to where I would like my vision for life to be.
